The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has pointed out that Nigeria’s inability to embrace modern technology in the fight against crime is significantly contributing to the growing insecurity, leading some border communities to make deals with bandits.
Comrade Gwarzo made this statement on Tuesday while meeting with members of the Kano chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel.
He highlighted that criminals are outsmarting security forces by employing advanced techniques, which has resulted in a significant technology gap.
The Deputy Governor voiced his serious concerns regarding the pervasive fear affecting the nation. He mentioned that citizens are now feeling uncertain about safe travel and their daily security.
“Certain communities near the borders of Kano have even formed agreements with bandits, allowing attacks to happen without detection. It is our shared duty, along with the media, to tackle these issues,” he stated.
He consequently urged journalists across the country to highlight these matters and encourage the government to take effective measures.
