Wasiu Ayinde, better known by his stage names KWAM 1 and K1 De Ultimate, was a prominent figure in Fuji’s music scene and has spoken about the impact his mother, Halima Anifowoshe, had on his career.
During her lifetime, the 68-year-old veteran’s mother composed music for him and taught him the basics of music.
As he discussed his mother’s role in his career achievement at the podcast show for Ganusi: The Album Fuji Classical, K1 De Ultimate dedicated the song “Mama” to her.
He said that his mother’s desire to pursue music as a young girl was stifled due to her female gender and royal family’s disapproval.
In his own words, he dedicated the song “Mama” to his mom, who not only gave him his musical foundation but also taught him how to sing.
My mother was a talented singer when she was a young maiden lady, but she was barred from performing publicly due to her status as the daughter of a sitting monarch and the object of their desire for her to enter into matrimony.
However, I attribute all of my mother’s gift to God. Throughout her lengthy life, she passed it on to me and frequently played the role of my composer.
In her own way, she aided in my maturation as a musician. Therefore, I believe it is fitting that I commemorate her and keep a blessed path open for her. Princess Halima Anifowoshe, K1 De Ultimate’s mother, passed away in January of 2025.
