After Sunday’s service, Adewale Giwa, senior pastor of The Second Coming of Christ Ministry, made it clear that God will not encourage religious leaders or preachers to focus on wealth.
According to Pastor Giwa, any pastor who claims God told him to focus on prosperity is spreading hellfire. He made this revelation while speaking to his congregation in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.
Not Christmas or the New Year, but Easter, says Pastor Giwa, should be the most significant and joyous festival. Why? It’s because it’s about our Lord Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and his subsequent resurrection; redemption is impossible apart from the resurrection.
Our religion is rendered useless and plays a crucial function in fortifying it in the absence of a resurrection. Furthermore, it affords us the chance to openly share the gospel with those who are lost.
Then why did I say that? You may remember that the apostles were given the authority to proclaim the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ after he rose from the dead.
They fled into concealment before Jesus Christ resurrected from the dead out of fear for his resurrection. Jesus Christ is now sending the Holy Spirit to you to lead, teach, and give you power to do and undo.
The resurrection of Jesus gave them the boldness to go from one place to another. As believers, we also learn from his resurrection to center our teachings on salvation and love.
Because the Lord will not command his servant to preach prosperity, you should reject as false any preacher who claims that God commanded him to do so.
“When the wealthy man came to Jesus Christ and asked, ‘How can I inherit God’s kingdom?'” In what ways did he instruct him? Go ahead and sell all you own. The Lord will not have his chosen ministers preach about getting rich and prosperous.
