In an effort to increase safety on the roads, the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) recently conducted a nationwide enforcement operation and seized over 200 automobiles that were determined to be unfit for use.
Mr. Akin-George Fashola, director of the Lagos VIS, revealed this in a press statement that was released on Sunday.
Lagos State Ministry of Transportation Deputy Director of Public Affairs Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola signed the statement.
Danfo and Korope were among the commercial minibuses that Fashola personally ordered pulled over because they were unsafe for use on public roads.
The operation encompasses all types of vehicles that contribute to the state’s transportation network, not just private vehicles, as Fashola clarified.
It is imperative that all cars adhere to the necessary criteria for roadworthiness, particularly those that are going to be used for business reasons.
