We do not mean to generate a problem in the APC – North Central Forum apologises to National Chair, Yilwatda

The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has said that it does not seek to incite a party crisis ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Forum released the remark while removing an ultimatum issued to APC National Chairman Prof Nentawe Yilwatda.

The Forum had issued an ultimatum for Yilwatda to resign within two weeks or face court action over alleged irregularities in the conduct of the APC primaries.

The Forum, however, dropped the ultimatum and apologised to Yilwatda in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, late Thursday.

The North-Central APC Forum revealed in a follow-up statement that the ultimatum was based on incorrect information and a misunderstanding of the party’s current challenges.

Withdrawing the ultimatum, the Forum reaffirmed its commitment to unity, peace, and progress within the ruling party.

The Forum also stated that opponents of the party may have attempted to influence its previous opinion on the conduct of the APC primaries.

“The North-Central APC Forum, as a group of well-meaning supporters of our great party in the North-Central zone, has always been dedicated to the party’s growth and advancement.

“Our request for the resignation of the APC’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, was based on misinformation and a misunderstanding of the actual situation. After learning the truth, we hereby rescind the ultimatum and express our heartfelt regret to the national chairman and other APC officials.

“The North-Central APC Forum has no aim of causing a crisis or acting as a destabilising agent for the APC.

“We were not well-informed in our prior statements on the APC primaries. We have no alternative but to remove the ultimatum and apologise for the tensions caused by our previous attitude now that we know the true condition of affairs,” the statement continued.

The Forum asked all APC members to support and collaborate with the Yilwatda-led National Working Committee, or NWC, to ensure victory for the party and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

In the similar vein, the North-Central APC Forum reiterated its vow to deliver six million votes to Tinubu from the zone in the 2027 presidential election.
