The head coach of the Benin Republic, Gernot Rohr, is hopeful that his squad can secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
The Leopards currently sit in second place in Group C with 14 points, trailing leaders South Africa by three points.
With just two matches remaining, Benin has a solid opportunity to qualify either as group champions if they can defeat Bafana Bafana, or as one of the top-ranked runners-up.
“There are two matches left and anything can happen. With 14 points at this stage, we have the potential to finish first in the group, but we could also be among the best runners-up,” Rohr stated.
“We must keep moving forward on this path. The team has found its balance, and it no longer concedes goals. They fight together.
“We stay optimistic without being overly confident. We understand it will be challenging. We know Rwanda; we have already defeated Nigeria here. So indeed, anything is possible.
