The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has nominated Funso Doherty to compete for governor of Lagos in the upcoming 2027 election, and the politician has confirmed his acceptance of the nomination.
He announced this on Friday through a social media post.
“I accept our party’s nomination to run for governor of Lagos State in 2027 with deep humility, appreciation, and a clear sense of purpose.
We believe that Lagos deserves better—inclusive leadership that works for everyone—and I am profoundly grateful for the trust that our great party has given me.
Now comes the hard part. If we are together, we can create the Lagos we dream of. The moment has come, my friends – O TI Ya! he exclaimed.
Before the primaries, Doherty switched allegiances from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Before defecting from the ADC, he had already stated his desire to run for governor of Lagos State under that party’s banner.
