Calling her daughter Adejare “Duduke” is offensive, and Nigerian artist Simisola Kosoko (Simi) has asked everyone to stop.
In 2020, Simi will welcome a new baby boy with the release of a song named “Duduke,” as previously reported by Naijatrial.
So, when she and her husband, another musician Adekunle Gold, had their first child, a daughter named Adejare, in June 2020, some of her admirers began referring to her as “Duduke” after the song.
The name Duduke has no significance, and Simi recently told VJ Adams that she doesn’t like it when people call her child that.
The term “Duduke” was only an onomatopoeia she employed to describe the sound her baby makes as she breathes.
People nickname my daughter Duduke, and that’s something I’m not fond of, she remarked. Her name is different. Nothing comes out of it. I would have given in if it had had a positive intention. This is merely a beat, dude, dude. I intended it that way. I can feel my heart pounding.
“My child is not a Duduke,” you say with a giggle. However, did you know something? I understand; it’s well-intentioned, so I refrain from responding.
