Prince Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun State, has stated that his government is collaborating with the National Security Adviser’s office to get appropriate monitoring technology. This will allow for a rapid reaction to any security threat across the entire state.
This was said by Governor Abiodun during his reception of Zone 2 AIG, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, the 35 Artillery Brigade’s new commander, Brigadier General Godwin Nwaba, and other military leaders who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
We are actively seeking surveillance equipment that will provide us a perspective of various parts of our state. This will enable us to respond appropriately in the event of an emergency, he added.
We have been collaborating with the NSA headquarters in that regard. We have been attempting to locate appropriate technologies in order to implement it. You may rest assured that we will make a decision on that soon, and then get it acquired and deployed to support your efforts.
Despite the fact that the state is among the most peaceful in the nation, the governor emphasised the need for the security services to remain vigilant due to the ongoing threats that put the state government’s resolve to the test.
There is a great deal of work to be done, and we will not stay idle. Some have even said that our state is the safest in all of Nigeria. Nevertheless, we shall maintain our resolute resistance in the face of this constant test of our will. Additionally, the governor emphasised that the state will not tolerate any intrusion that compromises its security.
Abiodun said that the state’s security architecture is under strain because of its strategic placement on an international border and the daily influx of people because of its status as the nation’s industrial, educational, religious, and tourist hub.
The entire country enjoys peace and prosperity when Ogun is prosperous and peaceful, according to Prince Abiodun. This is due to the fact that Ogun is not only the industrial centre of Nigeria, but also the religious capital, which attracts many people.
The governor thanked the state’s security services for working together to host the National Sports Festival so well and said that the calm environment in the state was a result of their collaboration in carrying out their jobs.
More than merely a sporting event, that Sports Festival allowed us to display the world our true colours. As a result of the event, many investors are flocking to the state to establish their enterprises. Our state is currently hosting a number of conferences. In that respect, he expressed his gratitude to the audience.
With the state’s limited resources in mind, he promised that the government will investigate potential solutions to the problems encountered by the state’s security services.
Earlier, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, made a point of the state’s status as the country’s industrial centre and revealed a joint effort by the police commands of Ogun and Lagos states to combat crime, especially around the borders.
According to Brigadier General Godwin Nwaba, who is in charge of the 35 Artillery Brigade, the command has increased patrols in several trouble zones in the state. Nwaba assured that the officers and troops serving under him will do their best to bring peace to the state.
The state government was thanked by other security chiefs from the Nigeria Correctional Services, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Federal Fire Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for their past support. The chiefs pledged to work harder for a peaceful state and requested additional assistance, particularly in the area of mobility.
