Members of the Benue State judiciary who are part of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) have called off their indefinite strike and ordered everyone to go back to work right away.
A disagreement over the minimum wage between the union and the state government began more than five months ago, leading to the walkout. Consequently, the state’s courts have stayed inoperable, with judicial operations halted and no cases recorded.
The decision to halt the action was instructed by the national headquarters of the union, according to a statement released on Tuesday by Aba Terlumum, the Benue State chairman of JUSUN. He said they had to suspend operations since the Benue State government had responded positively to their demands.
Staff members of the Benue State Judiciary were ordered by Terlumum to immediately stop the strike action from getting worse and return to work on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. He praised the members’ cooperation during the strike.
