Alhaji Sadauna, 50, was shot and killed by gunmen during an assault on Gbajimba village in Benue State’s Guma Local Government Area.
Zagazola Makama was informed by security sources that the attackers broke into the neighbourhood at around 10 a.m. on Saturday, attacked the victim, and then quickly left.
According to one of the reports, soldiers from Gbajimba-based Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) were quickly notified and dispatched to the area.
The informant claimed that when the soldiers arrived, they found that the attackers had already killed Alhaji Sadauna.
The insider further stated that although the troops were unable to contact the gunmen, they quickly chased them via suspected escape routes.
It was also learnt that after securing the location, the soldiers removed the victim’s body and gave it to Nigerian police officers at the Gbajimba Police Division.
According to security authorities, attempts are still being made to locate, identify, and capture the attackers.
