Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, has explained why he visited fellow presidential candidate Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
In a post on his verified X profile, Atiku stated that the discussion centred on the state of the nation and measures to reposition the party for future political engagements.
The former vice president stated that the conversations during the meeting were open and productive, with both leaders pledging to collaborate in tackling the country’s difficulties.
Atiku paid Hayatu-Deen a visit at his Lagos mansion on Sunday.
“I paid a visit to my brother and fellow ADC presidential primary candidate, Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, at his home in Lagos. Our discussions about the situation of our country and party were open and productive,” Atiku said.
According to him, they vowed to work together on the onerous task of reclaiming and reconstructing Nigeria for the benefit of her population.
“We resolved to work together in the challenging task of reclaiming and rebuilding our beloved country for the greater good of our people,” he said.
The conference takes place amidst continuing talks and political realignments within the opposition camp ahead of future electoral fights, with key political personalities engaging stakeholders across the country.
As the African Democratic Congress positions itself in an ever-changing political scene, notable leaders such as Atiku and Hayatu-Deen are running for the party’s presidential ticket.
