Party officials are trying to undermine the current administration, according to Alhaji Aminu Masari, chairman of the APC convention central coordination committee, who claims that members are publicly complaining about being denied access to nomination forms in the days leading up to Saturday’s national convention.
Ahead of the APC’s 8th National Convention, set to take place from Friday, March 27, to Saturday, March 28, 2026, the former governor of Zamfara State made this known during Thursday’s APC World Media Briefing in Abuja.
Other high-ranking party officials who were present at the press briefing included Minister Festus Kyamo of Aviation and Aerospace Development; Vice Chairman Pius Ayim of the Central Committee; Chief Sunday Dare of Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication; Mr. Bayo Onanuga of Special Adviser on Information and Strategy; and Minister Hannatu Musawa of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy.
One responsible Nigerian party is the APC. When queried about the alleged denial of access to forms by some candidates for jobs, he explained that all offices are zoned in accordance with the federal character.
Forms were sold to individuals who came to purchase employment that were designated to their zones.
On the other hand, we suspect you of intentionally confusing them when they claim zoning is in Zone A but you’re actually in Zone B and attempt to purchase a form in Zone A.
“Who desires uncertainty? Let us take stock of where our nation stands.
Party structures and the distribution of members to the working committee are both based on zoning.
How can you assert that you have been handled democratically when you are running for a position that has not been zoned to your zone? We have reason to believe these individuals are plotters out to undermine our party.
I don’t believe any decent Nigerian would consent to that, and neither will we.
Therefore, that is not an issue for us.
We have no knowledge that anyone has taken this matter to court. No one has served us, but I’m certain we should be held accountable. We promise to respond to any legal process that reaches us.
