According to Merson, Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo and Arsenal’s Declan Rice are the standout midfielders currently.
Merson made these comments prior to Chelsea’s Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
“This match [Chelsea vs Arsenal] will showcase the clash between Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice, who are among the finest midfielders globally,” Merson stated via Sportskeeda.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing that matchup! It will also be fascinating to find out what formation Maresca will opt for.
“Will he consider using a false nine like he did in the game against Barcelona? Arsenal has a stronger defense, but I believe Chelsea can secure a draw.”
Caicedo made his move to Chelsea from Brighton in 2023, while Rice transferred to Arsenal from West Ham United.
