Sunday Oliseh has shared his respect for Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, according to Naijatrial.
Chelle was unable to secure a spot for the Super Eagles in the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 4-3 loss in a penalty shootout against the Democratic Republic of Congo during the African playoffs final.
This marked the Super Eagles’ first loss under the Malian coach. In spite of the backlash following the team’s World Cup qualification failure, Oliseh has come out in favor of the coach.
“I was initially one of those who was quite unhappy with his appointment, but I have to admit that he has won me over so far,” the former midfielder mentioned on his podcast.
“I believe he has put in a tremendous effort, achieved a lot, and has earned more points than either of his two predecessors.”
Chelle is set to guide the Super Eagles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations this December.
