Lamine Yamal has the support of David Villa, a former Barcelona player and Ballon d’Or contender. The 17-year-old has been instrumental for Barcelona this season, and the former Spain international thinks he deserves the Ballon d’Or for his efforts.
During a public appearance, Villa expressed his opinion about Yamal, saying, “We will see, I think he has done well” (via Barca Universal).
You know, I’ve never really put my faith in them, and there are still a few weeks left in the season. He will, without a doubt, win it in the end.”
Due to his performances for the Catalan club this term, Yamal is certainly one of the favorites to win the Ballon d’Or this year.
This season, the winger has been outstanding for Hansi Flick’s team and Barça, winning the Copa del Rey in the process.
