Prince Paul Ikonne, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, stated that the entire South-East region has collectively decided to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Ikonne, the former executive secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), minimised the impact of Governor Alex Otti of Abia State and Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
During an appearance on TVC’s ‘Politics Tonight’ on Tuesday evening, Ikonne remarked that Otti declined to accompany Peter Obi to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) because he anticipated that the former Anambra governor would not progress significantly in his presidential aspirations.
He stated that Governor Alex Otti is no longer relevant, as the governor lacks a political party to operate effectively.
He stated, “I believe we have exceeded seventy percent.” Certain schools of thought contend that, given the current quantity and calibre of individuals in the APC within the Southeast, a 90 percent outcome would be suboptimal, particularly in light of recent defections and the influx of new members.

“Our governor is absent.” Governor Alex Otti lacks a political party affiliation. Currently, he is affiliated with the Labour Party, however he participated in local government elections with the ZLP.
