On Wednesday, the striking Judiciary staff in Kwara State, represented by JUSUN, called off their three-day strike after engaging in negotiations with the state government, as reported by Naijtrial.
A statement from the union’s Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Ahmad Gold, in Ilorin on Wednesday, noted, “This decision comes after the assurance given by the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to implement the Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure (CONJUSS) for judiciary workers in Kwara State.
The union clarified that “the strike was initiated due to the delay in fulfilling our primary demands, which include the long-awaited review of salaries and allowances, as well as the adoption of CONJUSS.
“We believe that this agreement will resolve these concerns and enhance the welfare of judiciary workers in the state,” the statement continued.
The union expressed gratitude for the commendable intervention of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, the Acting Head of Service, Dr. Olufunke Mercy Shittu, the Commissioner of Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, and other stakeholders who played a role in successfully resolving the strike.
The agreement stated that “the strike is only suspended based on the mutual understanding among all parties involved that the implementation of the CONJUSS payment structure for judiciary workers in Kwara State will commence in September 2025.
“We will keep a close watch on the implementation process to ensure it goes smoothly and that all judiciary workers in the state benefit from the new salary structure.”
The state government has also guaranteed that no union member will face harassment or unjust threats for participating in the industrial action, “we appreciate this assurance and expect the state government to uphold this commitment.”
With the strike suspended, the union has instructed all its members throughout the state to return to work tomorrow, Thursday, August 28, 2025.
