At the APC convention, the Nigerian government mandated that all employees in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) work remotely.
In preparation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention, the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja and all surrounding roads will be closed, according to the Office of the Head of the Federal Civil Service of the Federation.
Because of the convention being held at Eagle Square, the roads will be restricted from Friday, March 27, to Saturday, March 28, 2026.
In light of the recent development, all federal secretariat employees (including those in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and those whose offices are in Phases I, II, and III of the complex are instructed to work remotely on Friday, March 27.
Attached to Thursday’s circular issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the directive was conveyed to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with all other Permanent Secretaries and heads of agencies and parastatals functioning within the impacted complex.
The APC conference site, Eagle Square, is right next to the Federal Secretariat Complex, hence closing that route was necessary, as stated in the circular.
The Federal Secretariat Complex will be closed to all access roads from Friday, March 27, to Saturday, March 28, 2026, according to a circular. “All Ministries, Extra-Ministerial Departments, Agencies and Offices located within the Federal Secretariat, Phases I, II & III are hereby informed of this closure,” the directive read.
It went on to say that in order to make getting around the area easier, everyone working in the affected offices should work from home on Friday.
Dr. Abdul S. U. Garba, Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, signed the circular, which encouraged other Permanent Secretaries and heads of agencies to inform their employees and make sure the direction is strictly followed.
