At least nine individuals were allegedly slain and incinerated beyond identification, while eight others suffered from different levels of injury in a deadly vehicular accident that transpired late Monday night on the Bauchi–Maiduguri Federal Highway.
The incident reportedly took place close to Zangoro village in Bauchi State, involving a Toyota commercial bus and a MAN diesel dump truck moving in contrary directions.
The Bauchi Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) verified the occurrence in a First Information Report released on Tuesday.
The investigation indicates that the collision transpired about 11:20 pm on Monday and was communicated to the corps five minutes thereafter. The FRSC rescue team reached the location at 11:40 pm, achieving a response time of 15 minutes.
The Toyota bus, identified by registration number DRZ133LG, was utilised for commercial transit, whereas the unregistered tipper truck was transporting sand.
