President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned salary augmentations ranging from 30 to 80 percent for troops in Nigeria’s military forces.
A declaration by the president’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday indicated that around 250,000 individuals will gain from the new agreement.
The announcement indicates that, starting September 1, personnel ranked above colonel will receive a 30 percent salary augmentation. This pertains to Brigadier-Generals, Major-Generals, Lieutenant Generals, and Generals.
The declaration specified that individuals from the rank of colonel to warrant officer will receive a 50 percent augmentation, and those from Private to Staff Sergeant will experience an 80 percent augmentation.
The compensation package is projected to elevate the annual wage expenditure for the nation’s military personnel from N660 billion to N924 billion.
It additionally stated that the President has consistently lauded the bravery and sacrifices of military personnel as they tackle the affliction of banditry, abduction, and terrorism in certain regions of the nation.
