Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, national leader of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), has stated that the opposition party does not have a single member who sleeps with one eye closed.
All Progressives Congress (APC) members are the only ones who sleep with their eyes closed, according to Baba-Ahmed, a former adviser to President Bola Tinubu.
He made his remarks in light of the deregistration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) by the Federal High Court in its Lokoja, Kogi State, ruling.
After previously ordering INEC to register the NDC as a political party, the court reversed its decision.
This decision followed an appeal filed by the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which sought to vacate the December 2025 ruling on the grounds that it was not a party to the litigation.
Justice Isah Dashen ruled in his judgement that a full hearing of all parties involved is necessary prior to making a final determination.
“I don’t think any party in the opposition sleeps with both eyes,” Baba-Ahmed remarked in response during an appearance on Politics Today, which airs on Channels Television. He specifically mentioned the APC as an exception.
The events surrounding the NDC in court today are quite disturbing. In Nigeria, no political party is taking itself seriously if it claims to be at ease.
