Alhaji Sani Yellow, the notorious bandit lord, has disputed news of his death.
A video posted on X on Wednesday by a user named Mobilisingnigerians showed Sani Yellow disputing accusations that he was murdered during a recent security raid in Zamfara State.
According to a message that accompanied the video, news of his death were the result of a mistaken identity.
The statement stated: “UPDATE: Alhaji Sani Yellow posted a video denying his death from two days ago, which was incorrectly posted on social media.” However, the depiction of the deceased bandit depicts a leader (Yellow) who is loyal to Gwaska. Yellow has become a famous name and nickname among bandits.”
The clarification comes only days after it was reported that a prominent bandit commander known as Kachalla Sani Yellow was slain during a security operation in Zamfara State’s Anka Local Government Area.
According to earlier reports, the bandit, who allegedly orchestrated many attacks along the Anka-Bagega Road, was slain during a battle with Maiduguri Special Vigilantes who were aiding ongoing counter-banditry operations.
His body was then shown to locals of Anka as proof of the operation’s success.
However, the most recent video reveals that the slain individual was another bandit commander known as “Yellow” who was claimed to be loyal to a bandit leader named Gwaska, rather than the famed kingpin, Alhaji Sani Yellow.
Authorities have yet to publish an official statement identifying the bandit killed during the operation.
