POLThe Kano State Police Command has initiated an inquiry into the death of a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) soldier who was attacked by hoodlums during an empowerment session in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state.
CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed this in a statement released on Saturday.
According to him, the event occurred on March 13, 2026, when the civil defence officer was allegedly attacked during the programme by suspected hoodlums.
“The Kano State Police Command received a report on the death of a Civil Defence personnel who lost his life during an attack by hoodlums at an empowerment programme held in Tudun Wada LGA on March 13, 2026,” read the press release.
He stated that the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed a comprehensive inquiry into the event, in coordination with other security agencies.
“The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, in liaison with other security agencies, has launched a thorough and discreet investigation into the incident with a view to identifying and apprehending the perpetrators,” according to Kiyawa.
The police spokeswoman further stated that the command is determined to bring those responsible for the crime to justice.
“The Commissioner has assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice,” he told reporters.
Kiyawa added that the injured officer was taken to Tudun Wada General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
“The victim was rushed to Tudun Wada General Hospital where he was certified dead, and his corpse has been deposited at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital mortuary,” said the official.
The command also offered its sympathies to the deceased’s family and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
“The Kano State Police Command extends its condolences to the family of the deceased and the Civil Defence Corps,” a press release stated.
The police also asked members of the public to provide security agencies with relevant information as the investigation continues.
