Security personnel have thwarted a bandit raid on a community watch and hunters’ base in Sukunkumi village, Kankia Local Government Area, Katsina State.
According to security sources, the incident took place around 7:30 p.m. on March 26, when approximately 15 highly armed criminals on motorcycles attempted to storm the facility.
According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, security troops responded promptly to the scene and engaged the attackers in a gunfight, forcing them to run into surrounding bushes.
According to the reports, three motorcycles were found at the location, including two that had previously been taken from hunters during the confrontation.
They further stated that Yusuf Ibrahim, 30, a Community Watch member, received a gunshot wound to his left leg and was transported to General Hospital Kankia for treatment.
According to the sources, patrols and clearance operations have been increased in the area in order to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent future assaults.
