As of this morning, five different teams have secured their spots in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) quarterfinals.
The semifinal pairings of Algeria and Zambia were finalised on Sunday. The Super Falcons and Algeria battled to a scoreless draw, sending both teams to the round of 16.
Matchups between the North Africans and the Group Runner-Up are set. Next Friday, in the quarterfinals, Nigeria will face off against Zambia.
The top team from Groups B or C will face off against Morocco, who have already secured their place in the next round.
Even though they only managed three points in the group stages, Senegal is still one of the two best-ranked third-place teams and has advanced.
