Gianluigi Donnarumma, a 26-year-old custodian from Italy, has being courted by Wayne Rooney, a legend of Manchester United.
The custodian, who is no longer desired by Paris Saint-Germain, would reportedly join Old Trafford and provide stability and composure to the defence, according to Rooney.
The ex-England attacker reflected on a comparable circumstance on his YouTube channel, describing the time when Edwin van der Sar, a Dutch custodian, was brought in to Old Trafford to replace Roy Carroll and Tim Howard.
The players no longer have faith in Andre Onana and Altay Bayındır, and he thinks the Red Devils should make the daring move to replace them.
I remember the days of Roy Carroll and Tim Howard as our goalkeepers. Those defenders in front of those two goalkeepers didn’t exactly exude confidence, in my opinion.
“However, the defenders had more faith in [Edwin] Van der Sar and the team’s performance improved the moment he entered the game and put everyone at ease,” he explained.
Old Trafford great Rooney thinks the PSG custodian could be a huge boon to his former club, which is in dire need of that kind of assurance right now.
“I believe with Donnaruma, he’s 26,” the ex-England international continued. Among the world’s top goalkeepers, he ranks high. Manchester United should definitely sign him.
According to Naijatrial, Manchester United’s narrow loss to Arsenal on Sunday was caused by an error made by goalkeeper Bayındır.
The Red Devils suffered their first loss of the season as the goal remained, even though Bayındır claimed that Arsenal defender William Saliba fouled him.
The Italian custodian Donnarumma is no longer a part of PSG manager Luis Enrique’s plans, and he has not yet agreed to a new contract.
