Sen. Datti Baba-Ahmed, who ran for vice president in the 2023 general election, recently declared that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is “questionably constitutional,” a remark that has been strongly criticized by the LP’s leadership.
Umar Ibrahim, the party’s national secretary, released the rejoinder to newsmen on Saturday in Kaduna. It was signed by Dr. Arabambi Abayomi, the national publicity secretary of LP.
Abayomi remarked that the LP disavowed any covert activity that could incite Nigerians against the current government since it saw the remark as undemocratic.
He assured Nigerians that their party was fully committed to making a change in government at the 2023 general elections.
The reporter also remembered that the party had backed politicians it thought may be successful in the election.
Additionally, he reminded that the party’s appeal to the 2023 presidential election’s proclaimed results ended in defeat after they were taken to the Supreme Court.
The ruling of the Supreme Court was recognized by the Labour Party in the interest of national peace and interest.

The unlawful and unconstitutional meeting that Peter Obi and Abia Governor Alex Otti convened on April 9 in Abuja shocked the party, according to Abayomi.
Despite the Supreme Court’s approval of Tinubu’s administration, he claimed that Baba-Ahmed continued to call the 2023 presidential election “questionably constitutional” throughout the meeting.
In addition, Abayomi claimed that Baba-Ahmed had stated, “The appointments they are making are fake and illegal,” in a national televised appearance.
“They are spending our money on government paraphernalia, which is destroying our country, and it’s only for a little time.”
So, he spoke for them at the party when he declared that such a speech plainly incited a mass uprising against a legitimate government. It is unacceptable, according to Abayomi, to incite public animosity against a lawful government. Additionally, he claimed that the government had subjected Nigerians to immense suffering. According to Abayomi, all of them were attempts to incite anti-government sentiment. Currently, he said, Nigeria was going through a perilous and unstable period.
In his view, the only way out of this predicament is for all decent Nigerians to set politics aside and work together to save their country.
It is every Nigerian’s right, according to Abayomi, to call the government to account for failing to meet expectations, as the leadership of LP had made plain.
On the other hand, he emphasized the need to refrain from remarks that incite violence and could lead the country into an unjustified firestorm, especially when they come from members of the political elite.
Its former vice presidential candidate made some regrettable and disgusting remarks, and the Labour Party, led by Mr. Julius Abure, wants to distance itself from them, he added.
Abayomi added that the party’s executive members were in danger because of Otti’s purported remark about a potential “dooms day” for the Julius Abure-led leadership. To better protect their leaders, he urged all security services to step up their efforts.
