The PDP inaugurates freshly elected Ebonyi SWC members

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated its newly elected State Working Committee (SWC), led by Hon. Chukwuma Igwe and Hon. Henry Ngonu, the party’s new state chairman and secretary, respectively.

Igwe served in Ebonyi’s State House of Assembly.

The new SWC members were elected at the state congress, which took place on Friday at the PDP Secretariat, Km 8, Abakaliki/Enugu Motorway, Abakaliki.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) oversaw the Congress, which saw a big turnout of party supporters, and the presence of security personnel ensured that it was peaceful and incident-free.

Barr Ukpai Ukairo, Chairman of the seven-man Congress Committee, addressed the party members and declared that the PDP adopted consensus in the election of new leadership to prevent rancour, stating that the committee was impressed by PDP members’ conduct in Ebonyi State.

Ukairo urged the party’s newly elected leadership “to note that there is serious work to be done as the PDP was poised to bounce back to winning ways, especially as the 2027 general elections approach.”

In his remarks at the inauguration of the new SWC, the Southeast National Vice Chairman (NVC) of the party, Hon. Chidiebere Goodluck Egwu, while congratulating the new executive, urged them “to go and work with the leaders and stakeholders of the party to ensure that every member of the party is carried along in rebuilding the party.”

The newly appointed executive committee of the PDP was also tasked “to hit ground running by ensuring that members of the party actively take part in the e-registration of members in line with the new electoral guidelines as prescribed by the Electoral Act 2025 which was recently signed into law.”
