The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Dele Momodu, a leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), for claiming that President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 presidential election if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ran alongside either Peter Obi or Rotimi Amaechi.
Seye Oladejo, a spokesman for the party’s state arm, called Momodu’s assertion as outrageous, unsubstantiated, and postulation.
In a statement he signed, Oladejo stated that political projections predict Tinubu will be unstoppable in 2027.
He stated, “We wish to declare unequivocally that such views remain speculative, premature, and utterly unsupported by the facts on the ground. There is nothing to support such wild supposition or political gamble.
“On the contrary, every credible postulation and emerging political realignment as the nation approaches the next national elections points to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unstoppable victory.”
“Indeed, many of those viewed as prospective contenders are dealing with major crises of confidence in their respective political situations.
“Some of them have even encountered rejection and opposition from within their own households and political bases, rendering the notion of an impending electoral upset not just overstated but also politically unachievable.
“President Tinubu’s administration remains committed to enacting ambitious reforms that will stabilise the Nigerian economy, strengthen national security, and lay a solid platform for long-term growth and shared prosperity.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda addresses long-standing structural difficulties while firmly establishing Nigeria’s path to economic recovery and national growth.
“It must be noted that any daydream about derailing Nigeria’s current trajectory of steady progress and economic recovery can only come from people who do not wish the country well.
“Nigerians are astute enough to recognise true leadership and good governance when they see it.
“Furthermore, the opposition will need to do far more than occasional grandstanding and media speculation to gain even a passing glance from the Nigerian electorate.”
“The Nigerian people are already deeply troubled by the opposition camp’s continuing instability, lack of cohesiveness, and lack of clear direction.
“Rather than speculating about elections that are months away, political actors and commentators should focus on contributing constructively to national progress and supporting policies that benefit Nigerians.
