The Sokoto State House of Assembly has officially passed an amendment to the 2025 Appropriation Bill, granting a virement of N38.8 billion as proposed by Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
This approval came after the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, represented by its vice chairman, Kabiru Ibrahim (APC, Kware), presented a report during the plenary session on Wednesday in Sokoto.
Ibrahim clarified that the amendment to Appropriation Law No. 12 of 2025 is intended to finance essential infrastructure projects and social services throughout the state.
Assembly leader, Bello Idris (APC, Gwadabawa North), supported the request, emphasizing that the adjustment was crucial for the continuation of ongoing projects.
“It is necessary to revise the budgetary allocations; thus, the amendment to the Appropriation Law No. 12 of 2025 is required,” Idris stated.
Additionally, Abubakar Shehu (APC, Yabo) remarked that the amendment reflects the administration’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of its citizens.
Following discussions, Speaker Tukur Bala called for a voice vote on the motion, which was adopted unanimously.
In another development, the assembly also approved two amendment bills: one updating the College of Nursing Science, Tambuwal Law, 2019, and the other modifying the Sultan Abdulrahman College of Health Technology, Gwadabawa Law, 2023.
