TikToker gets year in jail for his videos

Media mogul Abubakar Usman Kilina received a year in jail from a Kano magistrate court presided over by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan of Court No. 21.

In addition to the ₦30,000 compensation cost, the court also offered him the option of paying a ₦100,000 fine for what they called “wasting the agency’s time.” Also, he might have gone with another choice.

As reported by Freedom Radio, Kilina was found guilty of using foul language, inciting indecent behaviour, and showcasing cross-dressers in one of his TikTok videos. He was also punished for this offence. A case was brought against him by the Kano State Film Censorship Board, which led to the sentencing.

The court will have no choice but to impose the whole term without the option of a fine if Kilina repeats his indecent behaviour, Magistrate Hadiza warned. Kilina was also admonished to refrain from such behaviour.
