Tragically, two police officers lost their lives in a vehicle accident on Friday morning in the Kawo region of Kaduna State while on duty along Ali Akilu vehicle.
At the General Hassan Katsina U-turn, also known as the Water U-turn, an accident happened at about 7:00 a.m.
The police officers were on duty when a car allegedly driven by a military officer slammed into them, instantly killing them.
While confirming the event, DSP Mansir Hassan, the public relations officer for the Kaduna State Police Command, revealed that the policemen were just doing their jobs when it happened.
At the Water U-turn along Ali Akilu Way, Kawo, a vehicle driven by a member of the military collided with two police officers who were performing their duty duties, as reported by Hassan.
State Police Commissioner CP Muhammad Rabiu, speaking for the whole Command, sent his deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased officers.
It has been determined through preliminary investigations that the driver in question is a member of the armed forces. The driver is presently receiving medical treatment at an unidentified hospital in Kaduna, under the watch of security personnel, after suffering injuries in the incident.
Together with sister security organisations, the Command has promised the public an open and honest investigation, and they’ve issued a plea to drivers to follow the rules of the road.
