President Donald Trump of the United States has expressed concern that a possible Supreme Court ruling that restricts his power to impose tariffs might threaten national security, as the nation awaits a decision regarding the legality of his tariff strategies.
Trump shared this warning in a post on his Truth Social media platform on Monday. This alert comes as the Supreme Court continues to examine challenges to Trump’s broad application of tariffs, a review that began in early November.
Trump stated, “The greatest threat in history to United States National Security would be a negative ruling on Tariffs by the U.S. Supreme Court.”
“We would be left financially vulnerable. Meanwhile, Europe is imposing tariffs on China, just as they do with others.”
The US President further claimed, “We would not be permitted to do what others are already doing!” while referencing a photo he posted of French President Emmanuel Macron during a recent trip to China.
It’s worth noting that Macron had recently cautioned China that the European Union might implement tariffs “in the coming months” if the East Asian nation fails to address its trade surplus with Europe.
