Wike is free to join APC-Yilwatda

Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has indicated that Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is free to join the party.

Yilwatda made the comments during a media briefing on Wednesday night.

He stated that the party does not coerce people to join it, emphasising that participation is voluntary.

“If he wants to join the APC, he can do so. We do not compel individuals to join APC. People willingly join the APC,” he stated.

He also refuted assertions that political appointments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are linked to party membership, adding that some people who formerly attacked the president are now in government.

“There is no evidence that you signed an agreement with us requiring you to join the APC before serving in our government.

“He appointed people who had insulted Mr. President.” They are part of our government. “He didn’t ask them to join the APC,” he explained.

Yilwatda also emphasised the president’s open leadership approach, saying critics have been welcomed rather than ostracised.

“Those that insulted him, he welcomed them in broad daylight,” he said.
