Flying Eagles coach Aliyu Zubairu has promised his squad a run for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup berth. In Egypt, Zubairu’s squad will compete in the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations among twelve other teams.
The World Cup, set to be held in Chile later this year, is a prerequisite for participating in the biannual tournament.
Only the top four seeds from Egypt’s semi-finals will be able to compete in the international final. The coach has said that winning the continental title is secondary to getting his team to Chile.
It would be unfair to expect the guys to feel pressured into winning the trophy. “Getting the ticket to the World Cup is now our first target,” Zubairu told NFF TV.
“We will sit them down again and talk about winning the title when we get to the semi-final stage, but our first target is the World Cup ticket.”
