Moisés Caicedo has been crowned Chelsea’s greatest player this season by midfielder Cole Palmer. Palmer made the announcement after Sunday’s 3-1 triumph over Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions.
With his late penalty goal, the 22-year-old snapped a 12-game goal drought and gave the Blues a fighting shot for a playoff berth. Their lead was extended after the break thanks to an own goal by Jarell Quansah, and Enzo Fernández scored the first goal.
Palmer scored from a penalty that Caicedo won after Virgil van Dijk had pulled Liverpool even late in the game. After the game, Gary Neville named the England international the game’s MVP. Although Caicedo was more worthy, Palmer maintained otherwise.
“I felt assured today. For the first time, I was taking risks, playing forward. When you have Caicedo by your side, it’s like being in a dream,” Palmer told Sky Sports.
