Jigawa has given the green light for N91 billion in projects related to roads, power, and more

The Jigawa State Executive Council has sanctioned development initiatives totaling N91.04 billion, which encompass road construction, power supply, healthcare, flood management, and public infrastructure throughout the state.

This announcement was made in a press release by the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Mr. Sagiru Musa Ahmed, after a council meeting led by Governor Malam Umar Namadi in Dutse.

As per the commissioner, the council has allocated N689.38 million for the electrification and solarization of selected government institutions, ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

The beneficiaries include Jigawa State Polytechnic in Dutse, GDSTC Gumel, institutions in Babura and Kafin Hausa, Jigawa Television (JTV), NYSC Orientation Camp, Dutse Township Stadium, specialist hospitals in Hadejia and Kazaure, general hospitals in Ringim, Birnin Kudu, and Bulangu, Khadija University, Bamaina Academy, major markets, and the Polytechnic of Communication and Information Technology in Kazaure.

Additionally, the council has approved the establishment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion workshop training centers and gas conversion facilities in Dutse and Hadejia, with a total cost of N563.0 million.

In another significant decision, the council has greenlit the construction of solar-powered mini-grids at various locations including the Government House, Deputy Governor’s Office, the official residences of the Secretary to the State Government and Head of Service, State Secretariat, House of Assembly, Judiciary Complex, and Shuwarin/Gidan Ihu Water Plant, amounting to N15.24 billion.

To enhance road infrastructure, the council has redirected N5.5 billion from the Market Development and Stabilisation Funds to the Ministry of Works for mobilization and contract awards covering 58.56 kilometers of township roads in Dutse Phase II, Kafin Hausa, Gumel Bypass, Dangyatim, and Doko in Garki LGA. The total value of these road projects is N57.79 billion.

Other approvals include the construction of mosques in Kaugama and Kafin Hausa.
