Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Olu of ilu-Abo in Akure North council area of Ondo State, Oba Olu Falae, has been appointed chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Pan Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere.
Aside from voicing concerns over insecurity and insisting on a national reorganisation, the group was speaking after its monthly gathering at Pa Reuben Fasoranti’s rural residence in Akure.
According to Jare Ajayi, the National Publicity Secretary, who briefed reporters after the meeting, the group’s national leader, Fasoranti, appointed Falae. The appointment was made to refocus the organisation, Ajayi reiterated.
The goal of appointing Oba Falae is to revitalise the organisation so that the House of Oduduwa may once again project the Yoruba mandate.
Oba Falae, the new chairman, has held several key positions, including that of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). Present at the meeting were a number of issues that the country is presently facing.
“After much deliberation and investigation, we have determined that restructuring is the best course of action to address these difficulties.
With that in mind, he issued a dire cry to action, urging President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly to immediately begin reorganising the country.
In his address to the occasion of his appointment, Falae thanked Fasoranti and pledged to bring together the various groups within Afenifere.
With God’s help and Afenifere and the Yoruba nation’s backing, we will be able to unite all of the other factions. During Papa’s lifetime, he vowed to “do all I can” to unite the various Afenifere factions.
Falae, the newly appointed chairman, has promised to bring the group back together, according to Apagun Kole Omololu, the group’s national organising secretary.
