A student from Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, RUGIPO, was discovered dead in his flat after allegedly committed suicide in his off-campus residence.
The lifeless body of the deceased student, Audi Emmanuel, was discovered dangling from a rope and exuding an awful stench.
The tragedy, which occurred along Awolowo Road in Emure-Ile, Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State, has left the institution’s neighbours in shock.
According to sources, neighbours who noticed a terrible stench coming from the student’s room pulled the door open, revealing his body.
One of the neighbours reported, “Emmanuel’s body was discovered hanging in his leased flat. His room had a strong odour. We tried but couldn’t reach him. So we decided to push open the door.
“We don’t know what could have led to such an action. However, we quickly alerted the police, who arrived to evacuate the corpse. We have not noticed any type of suicide note.”
While verifying the occurrence, Abayomi Jimoh, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, revealed that operatives were quickly dispatched to the scene, and the body was collected and lodged in a mortuary for further autopsy.
