Troops rescue two abduction victims in Benue following a swift response operation

Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) personnel successfully liberated two people who were kidnapped along the Ochumekwu-Ugbobi road in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State after responding quickly to an emergency alarm.

Security sources told Zagazola that the event occurred at 0800 hours on May 10, 2026.

Troops from Sector 2 OPWS, stationed in Ochumekwu, were swiftly deployed after receiving information regarding continuing kidnappings in the area.

When the troops arrived on the spot, they discovered that two citizens had already been captured by armed attackers along the route.

According to the sources, the military quickly began a chase, tracing the kidnappers’ escape route across neighbouring territory.

The pursuing troops apparently compelled the crooks to drop their prisoners and flee, resulting in the safe return of the victims.

Military sources reported that the rescued detainees were later turned over to the Nigeria Police Force for identification and further action.

They also stated that security forces have increased patrols and surveillance in the region to deter future occurrences and catch fleeing suspects.
