Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has officially sworn in 18 commissioners who were recently screened and certified by the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The ceremony of swearing in was conducted in the Executive Council Chambers of the new Government House, otherwise known as Light House, in Awka.
Soludo emphasised that the appointments of the newly sworn-in commissioners were a call to rigorous work, sacrifice, and public accountability, rather than a personal celebration.
He cautioned them to concentrate on the task of governance immediately and emphasised that the decisions they make will have a direct impact on the lives of more than nine million residents of Anambra State.
“I require you to operate your respective ministries with a high degree of prudence and synergy.” I would like to extend a formal welcome to the reconstituted State Executive Council, which I affectionately refer to as “Team Solution 2.0.”
The 18 commissioners who were sworn in are as follows: Ben Odoemena (Agriculture), Chukwukadibia Okoye, FCCA (Budget and Economic Planning), Udoji Amedu (Culture, Entertainment and Tourism), and Dr. Ekene Ogugua (Education).
Dr. Clem Aguiyi (Environment), Dr. Afam Obidike (Health), Dr. Law Mefor (Information and Value Reformation), Professor Offornze Amucheazi, SAN (Lands), and Vin Ezeaka (Local Government and Community Affairs) are the other individuals.
Additionally, Prof. Charles Ofoegbu (Petroleum and Mineral Resources), Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu (Physical Planning and Urban Development), Engr. Casmir Agummadu (Power), Engr. Okey Ezeobi (Works and Infrastructure), Eddy Ibuzo (Transport), Esther Onyekesi (Women Affairs and Social Development), Patrick Agha, MBA (Youth Development and Sports), Arc. Henry Arinze (Commissioner for Housing), and Mr. Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu (Commissioner for Commerce) were also sworn in.
Barr Tochukwu Nweke was sworn in as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice by the governor several weeks ago, while Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake was appointed as the Secretary to State Government. Izuchukwu M. Okafor was appointed as the Finance Commissioner.
The governor also swore in the heads of agencies yesterday, including Mr. Emeka Okonkwo, Managing Director of the Anambra Road Traffic Agency (ARTMA), Dr. Ossy Onuko, Managing Director of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Mr. Fred Agbata, MD and CEO of the Information Communication Technology Agency, and Mr. Obi Okonkwo, Managing Director of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
