The Nigerian government has named the 750-kilometer Lagos-Calabar coastal route after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
David Umahi, the minister of works, revealed this during a briefing on Thursday.
According to him, President Tinubu had envisioned this project some 27 years ago.
“By virtue of my position as Honourable Minister of Works, and after consulting with the Permanent Secretary, the Minister of State, the directors, and the entire ministry staff, we have chosen to name the entire Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“This is a dream that Mr President had about 27 years ago,” he replied.
The highway is anticipated to cost N15 trillion when completed.
The road, which is one of the Tinubu government’s legacy projects and has a segment nearing completion, has been fraught with controversy since its construction began in March 2024.
