The Social Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step down due to the freezing of the Osun State Government’s account held at First Bank.
He placed the call during a conversation with reporters following an event in Abuja on Thursday.
Remember that the country was plunged into astonishment due to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) freezing the Osun State Government’s account only days prior to the governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
The Commission validated the action, clarifying that it identified dubious transactions in the account of the Osun State Government.
Nonetheless, in a declaration made by the president’s spokeswoman, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday, Tinubu instructed the EFCC to annul the court decision that froze the Osun State Government’s account.
The progression has prompted demands in certain circles for the resignation of EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
Adebayo asserted that it is President Tinubu, rather than Olukoyede, who need to quit, as “the buck stops” with the president.
