Sylvester Nwakuche, the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), has given the green light for Chief Superintendent of Corrections, Jane Osuji, to take on the role of the new Public Relations Officer for the Service.
This appointment is effective immediately.
She takes over from Deputy Controller of Corrections Umar Abubakar, who officially retired from service on November 19, 2025.
CSC Osuji, who hails from Owerri North Local Government Area in Imo State, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising from Lagos State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso.
This appointment is a significant milestone for the Service, as she is the first woman to hold the position of Service Public Relations Officer.
Osuji joined the then Nigerian Prisons Service in 2009 as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons II and has successfully completed all required courses for her rank, along with several specialized training programs.
One of her notable trainings includes the Internal Security and Low-Intensity Conflict Operations Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji.
Her career path features important positions such as Assistant Public Relations Officer in the Lagos State Command, Public Relations Officer for the FCT Command, and Assistant National Public Relations Officer at the Service Headquarters, where she worked under four different Controllers General.
Additionally, Osuji has made her mark as Press Secretary to three Ministers of Interior from 2015 to 2023, playing a vital role in the ministry’s public communication initiatives.
Before her promotion, she was part of the Public Relations Unit at the NCoS Headquarters in Abuja.
CSC Jane Osuji is happily married and has children.
