The chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, has established a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am in the Oghior Community. This curfew is effective immediately.
This decision comes in response to a series of escalating issues within the community, which resulted in property damage, including several homes being set ablaze.
The curfew directive was detailed in a statement released by Comrade Henry Ubus, the Chief Press Secretary to the Council Chairman.
Oyibode instructed all security forces operating in the local government to take decisive action against anyone found with illegal weapons or attempting to incite further disorder.
He emphasized that this measure is crucial to prevent the situation from worsening, restore peace, and protect innocent lives and property.
“The safeguarding of lives and property is the government’s foremost duty, and my administration will not stand by while criminals disrupt Oghior or any part of Udu,” he remarked.
He also called on the residents of Oghior Community to stay calm, adhere to the curfew rules, and fully cooperate with the security personnel present in the area.
Additionally, he reassured the public that the Udu Local Government Council, in partnership with relevant security agencies, will keep a close watch on the situation until peace and normalcy are restored.
