A fire destroys shops and products in Kwara market

On Tuesday, a terrible fire swept through parts of a popular market in Kwara State, damaging shops and commodities worth millions of naira.

The event, which occurred in Ilorin, caused alarm among traders because the fire apparently spread quickly before emergency responders could extinguish it.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire began in one of the locked stores and spread to adjacent booths, consuming fabrics, food, and other stuff.

“We just started hearing people chanting ‘fire, fire!’ before things got out of hand. “People were running helplessly,” an eyewitness reported.

The cause of the fire had not been formally determined, but traders suspected an electrical issue.

According to reports, firefighters and market leaders collaborated to keep the fire from spreading to other areas of the market.
