Certificates Tinubu is eligible to contest for the presidency — Former APC Legal Adviser, Ogala

Babatunde Ogala, a former National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserted on Thursday that President Bola Tinubu is eligible to contest for the president in 2027.

Ogala asserted that Tinubu meets the qualifications due to his age and his Nigerian nationality.

He said this on Channels Television’s Politics Today in response to the debate on Tinubu’s qualifications.

Tinubu failed to provide his primary and secondary school certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This has resulted in extensive debate among Nigerians.

Nonetheless, Ogala enquired: “What does the Constitution stipulate regarding eligibility for office?” I often encounter enquiries such as: Who are his progenitors? Who is his progenitor? Who is the mother of him? Who is his sibling? Who is his sibling?

Is he from Nigeria? The response is affirmative, unless demonstrated or established thru legal proceedings. Is Tinubu eligible to contest for the presidency based on his age? The response is affirmative, according to constitutional stipulations.

Does he possess the requisite educational credentials mandated by the Constitution, which stipulates education up to the School Certificate level, understood as Primary Six, along with literacy skills?

The individual asserts, “I own a degree. Babatunde Ogala is present in this location. I am a Senior Advocate, and you are requesting that I validate my status as a lawyer. You seek information regarding the primary and secondary educational institutions I attended, as well as the location of my A-Level studies.
