Following his dismissal as manager by Tottenham Hotspur, Ange Postecoglou issued a statement. According to the Naijatrial, Postecoglou was fired by the Premier League team on Friday night.
Tottenham released a statement on their website wishing the 59-year-old the best going forward. After leaving the club, Postecoglou issued a statement in which he thanked the fans who had backed him.
You may remember that Postecoglou signed a four-year contract to play for Tottenham from Celtic of Scotland.
“When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur my overriding emotion is one of pride,” half of Postecoglou’s statement said.
I will never forget the chance to take charge of one of England’s most storied football clubs and restore its rightful greatness.
A dream that had taken two years to accomplish came to fruition that night in Bilbao. We have also set the groundwork for this club to have success in the future; it shouldn’t take another seven years.
My deepest gratitude goes out to everyone who stood by my side throughout the past two years. A remarkable bunch of young men who have gone on to become football club icons.
The May Europa League final was won by Tottenham, coached by Postecoglou. You may remember that Tottenham won their first major trophy in 17 years with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in Bilbao.
