The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of splitting opposition votes in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), encouraging Nigerians to reject the PDP in the 2027 general elections.
Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, the party’s governorship candidate in Jigawa State, made the assertion at the Jigawa South-West ADC stakeholders’ meeting held in Dutse over the weekend.
Nakudu, who was represented by his running mate, Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, said that backing the PDP now would improve the APC’s chances in the next general election.
According to him, the PDP has failed to present a clear presidential candidate, indicating that the party lacks the will to challenge the ruling party.
“The PDP is just claiming to be in opposition. It is intended to divide votes. It does not have a presidential candidate, and there are various factions inside the party, including those who support Nyesom Wike and others,” he stated.
He argued that Nigerians have been through the administrations of both the APC and the PDP and should now embrace the ADC as a legitimate alternative capable of delivering effective governance.
“Every Nigerian has tried both the APC and the PDP. They understand what each party has to contribute. “Now is the time to help the ADC build a better future,” he said.
Ringim revealed that the party was engaging key political stakeholders around the state, and he expressed confidence that additional lawmakers would soon defect to the ADC.
“What remains is ongoing interaction and engagement with the people. At our level, we are already in talks with significant political stakeholders, and Nigerians will soon see more people join the ADC,” he said.
He urged party candidates, officials, and supporters to boost grassroots mobilisation by recruiting more members ahead of the elections.
“At this stage, what we need is hard work, commitment and dedication to ensure our victory in the next general elections,” he stated.
